Tatiane Mauree wins the HOYS 128cms Qualifier at the Welsh Home Pony
Tuesday 02 August 2016
11 year-old Tatiane Mauree provided the only treble clear of the class to land victory in the HOYS 128cm Qualifier at the Wales and West showground, on board the little Welsh pony Colliyers Pal Joey and register her debut at the famous Horse of the Year Show in October.
Eight of the thirty- eight starters jumped first round clears, but only three accessed the final jump off against the clock with first to go, Ireland’s Ryan Sweetnam on Silver Legend, making just one error to finish on four faults.
Tatiane from berkshire opted for accuracy and duly guided Colliyers Pal Joey into a steady third clear.
“My trainer Eleni Murphy advised me to go for a clear rather than take a chance,” said Tatiane, who has ridden the 9-year-old since he was four, working up from unaffiliated jumping and tiny tots to top level 128cm this season.
“He has such a lovely personality and looks after me.”
Last to go Iwan Carpenter, who had recovered from a nasty fall two days earlier riding for England in Welsh Home Pony International 128cm team competition, also had four faults on the 12-year-old mare Telynau Royal Damask to take third.
