Jodie Hall-McAteer Take Victory in the Pony Showjumper of the Year at the Welsh Home Pony
Tuesday 02 August 2016
16 year-old Jodie Hall-McAteer posted a deceptively fast round on board The Little Squire to take victory in the Pony Showjumper of the Year Qualifier at Wales and West Showground for a finalist place at the prestigious Horse of the Year Show in October.
Only four of the forty-five starters gained first round clears over course-designer Raf Suarez’s testing track to make their way to the jump-off.
Jodie from Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, has just been selected with her top pony Tixylix to represent Britain in the Pony European Championships, Denmark, on the 17 – 21 August, was on top form. She used her final draw to maximum effect on the big-jumping Irish-bred 10-year-old The Little Squire to take the win by 1.02 sec.
Ireland’s Ciaron Nallon was hot on her heels for second place with Sligo Little James.
Allana Clutterbuck, also on the pony European team with Susan Evans’ Sultan Du Bary, guided this scopey 10-year-old gelding into third with another solid double clear.
Drew Walton’s opening round was marred by one pole hitting the floor on the 14-year-old mare Tequila Twist, and their four faults put them in fourth place.
