Winter Grand Prix
A brand-new series for the British Showjumping Winter Classics
Launching for Winter 2025, the Winter Grand Prix League introduces an exciting new competition format to the British Showjumping calendar. Running alongside the Winter Classics Series (October – March), the league offers riders and spectators an action-packed circuit culminating in a high-stakes final at the Winter Championships.
Guaranteed Prize Money
Every Winter Grand Prix class will carry a guaranteed £1,000 first prize, ensuring strong competition and rewarding top performances throughout the series.
League Format
The Winter Grand Prix League follows a points-based system designed to reflect consistency across the season.
- Points will be awarded to horse/rider combinations placed 8th or higher.
- The allocation of points is as follows:
- 1st – 12 points, 2nd – 9 points, 3rd – 8 points, 4th – 7 points, 5th – 6 points, 6th – 5 points, 7th – 4 points, 8th – 3 points
- In the case of equal placings, riders will share the average of the combined points available.
- Example: four riders tied for 4th place would share the points for 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th (7 + 6 + 5 + 4 = 22), meaning 5.5 points each.
- Double points will be awarded at the League Final, making the Winter Championships a decisive showdown.
Where and When?
The Winter Grand Prix League will run across all Winter Classic shows held between October and March. Each class offers valuable points towards the leaderboard, building up to the Winter Championships Final, where the League winner will be crowned.
Deciding the Winner
- The overall League Champion will be the horse/rider combination with the most points accumulated throughout the series.
- In the event of a tie on points, the highest placed competitor in the Winter Grand Prix League Final will take the title.
- To be eligible as the overall winner, a rider must start in the League Final at the Winter Championships.
Why Compete in the Winter Grand Prix League?
- £1,000 first prize guaranteed in every class
- Consistent opportunities to earn points across the Winter Classics calendar
- Double points in the final for an added edge of excitement
- A clear pathway to a prestigious new national title
Prize Money
The Winter Grand Prix League adds even more incentive to compete at the final during the British Showjumping Winter Championships at Arena UK. Not only will riders be competing for the prize money on offer in the Audevard Winter Grand Prix Final, but the overall Winter Grand Prix League standings will also be decided. To be eligible for the League prizes, riders must jump in the Final at Arena UK, where double points are on offer. The overall League winner will take home an additional £1,000, with £600 awarded to second place and £400 to third, giving competitors even more reason to chase those valuable double points in the Final.
