SQUAD FOR ST GALLEN

The Squad representing Great Britain in the third of the Top Level Nations Cup competitions in St Gallen next week will be:
 
Scott Brash from Peeblesshire with his father’s (Stanley) 13-year-old black gelding Intertoy Z. Scott travelled to La Baule as the 5th member on the team to La Baule having returned from Florida shortly before where the combination had a successful few months of competition.
 
Warwickshire based Nick Skelton with Beverley Widdowson’s 11-year-old grey gelding Carlo 273. Carlo, was at the first of the Top Level Nations Cup events for 2012 in La Baule earlier this month where he won the €200,000 Grand Prix on the final day.
 
Tim Stockdale from Northamptonshire will be making his first team appearance since returning to riding following a fall in which he sustained a fractured neck last Autumn.   Fresh Direct Kalico Bay whom he will be partnering is an 11-year-old bay gelding owned by Colin Garratt. During May both Tim and Kalico Bay have returned to International competition where they have secured placings in both 2* and 3* events.
 
John Whitaker from Huddersfield with his wife Clare’s 11-year-old chestnut stallion Maximillian IV will be hoping for their first Top Level Nations Cup Team inclusion as a combination. John has only been competing Maximillian since the beginning of the year and they attended their first 4* Nations Cup at the beginning of May where they finished 3rd in the Grand Prix.
 
Nottinghamshire based Michael Whitaker with his own Viking V, a 10-year-old chestnut gelding. The winter season has seen Michael and Viking focus on the World Cup series and recently the Global Champions Tour.   Earlier this month the combination took 2nd place in the Grand Prix in Valencia securing almost £51,000 prize money as a result.
 
The Top Level Nations Cup in St Gallen takes place between the 1-3rd June and will be the third of the competitions which consists of a series of eight 5* Nations Cup in which official teams representing qualified nations compete against each other in their teams of four. The eight events take place across two rounds at eight of the most prestigious venues competing for a minimum of €200,000 at each. 
 
The second of the Nations Cup competitions in the series takes place in Rome tomorrow (Friday 25th May) and Great Britain commence the competition sitting in 5th place on the league table.
 
The venues and dates for the series in 2012 are as follows:
La Baule              10-13th May (11th May Nations Cup)
Rome                   14-27th May (25th May Nations Cup)
St Gallen              31st May – 3rd June (1st June Nations Cup)
Rotterdam            20-24th June (22nd June Nations Cup)
Aachen                 3-8th July (5th July Nations Cup)
Falsterbo             12-15th July (13th July Nations Cup)
Hickstead            19-22d July (20th July Nations Cup)
Dublin                  15-19th August (17th August Nations Cup)
