Shaunie Greig claims top spot in The Stable Company HOYS 138cms Qualifier at South View Equestrian Centre

Shaunie Greig from Camelon, Falkirk claimed two of the three qualification spots on offer in The Stable Company HOYS 138cm Qualifier at South View Equestrian Centre’s pony premier.

She underscored her talent by jumping the sole treble clear on Drumaclan Flight in the eight-pony jump-off, and also brought Buttons Two into the third qualifying spot.

Sixty-four initially bid for the coveted finalist places in The Stable Company 138 Championship Final which will be held at the Horse of the Year Show in October, with this being dramatically reduced to nine round one clears going forward to round two. Only one fell by the wayside to leave an eight-strong field in the final jump-off.

Shaunie set the standard in the third draw on the Irish-bred 15-year-old Drumaclan Flight, and despite several challenges, no-one could touch her time, let alone leave all the fences standing.

Nicole Lockhead Anderson from Banchory, Aberdeenshire was the closest on the 18-year-old gelding Shappen Pilgrim, but a rail down at the first element of the double put them second, also 2.92 sec in arrears.

Shaunie used her final draw to take the third qualifying place on the 12-year-old mare Buttons Two, the first part of the double also catching them out.
