Rosie Gunn Succeeds in KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Houghton Hall Equestrian Centre

Rosie Gunn showed her talents on Sunday when she came out on top in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Houghton Hall Equestrian Centre in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.

Fifty-nine starters were all eager to get the action under way and were hopeful of gaining a qualification place in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final, which will be held during the British Showjumping National Championships this summer. Two gripping rounds saw the number of competitors whittled down until just thirteen able combinations were left to contest the final jump off.

Rosie from Orston, Nottinghamshire produced a speedy round on board her own 5 year-old liver chestnut gelding, Jagerbomb to take first place. Being drawn second to last, this pair had time to really eye up the competition before producing their quick and deliberate third clear, crossing the finish line in an unbeatable 43.85 seconds.

Giving her sister a real run for her money, second place was taken by Stephanie Gunn, also from Orston, Nottinghamshire, riding her own 8 year-old grey mare, Lady Larino. After posting faster times then Rosie in the first two rounds, Stephanie and Lady Larino could not quite replicate this in the third round, but they did go on to produce their treble clear in 45.77 seconds.

Third place was taken by Harry Bateman from Hockley, Essex on board Anvils Every Little Helps II, a 5 year-old iron grey mare owned by Poppy Rollit-Mason. Harry secured his treble clear in 46.74 seconds.

With another seven combinations also achieving a treble clear, a total of ten combinations now go forward to the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
