Rachael Connor is Crowned Victor in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at Dean Valley

A mammoth field of ninety-one combinations began the battle but only one would be crowned victor of the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round which took place at Dean Valley Farm in Stockport, Cheshire on Sunday. It was Rachael Connor who took on the challenge and gained the eventual win, as well as a place in the Championship Final.
The Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship Final will be held at the British Showjumping National Championships and each competitor had their sights set on gaining a treble clear that would give them a sought after qualification place. As the final jump off got under way, the twenty-nine remaining combinations really had their work cut out, as the all-important clock played a huge part in deciding the placings.
Rachael’s journey from Rossendale, Lancashire was not in vain as she rode away with not one but two podium places. On board her own 9 year-old bay mare, Hinde, Rachael flew into first place. Drawn close to the end of the jump off, they had plenty of time to plan their tactics, which really paid off as they went on to gallop through the finish line in 35.76 seconds.
Second place was secured by Levi Critchlow from Ormskirk, Lancashire riding his own 6 year-old chestnut gelding, Valarico. As the only combination able to rival Rachael’s speedy rounds, this pair crossed the finish line on a triple clear in 36.45 seconds.
This time on board her second ride, 10 year-old grey mare, B Valeree, Rachael proved to be the model of precision and speed as she claimed third place. Again producing a treble clear, Rachael and B Valeree posted a time of 36.83 seconds.
With another sixteen combinations also achieving a treble clear, a total of nineteen combinations now go forward to the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship Final.
