Rachael Connor Headed the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Bold Heath Equestrian Centre

Rachael Connor from Rossendale, Lancashire headed the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round in fine style at Bold Heath Equestrian Centre in Cheshire, beating forty-six other competitors all vying for victory and a qualification place in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Final.

With the championship final set to take place this summer during the British Showjumping National Championships, a determined Rachael took the win from the front of a fifteen-strong jump-off with a sizzling round. Riding her own 10-year-old bay mare, B Valeree she has competed since the beginning of the year, this pair finished in 26.21 seconds, a time not even her nearest rival could get close to. Having topped the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at Dean Valley just a week earlier, Rachael really is on a roll.

It was Sue Pountain from Uttoxeter, Staffordshire who took second place riding  Arenal Den Castell, a British-bred 7 year-old gelding by Rush On M in a time of 29.81 seconds.

Emma Wilson from Wreay, Carlisle crossed the finish line just a tenth of a second slower to claim third place with her 7 year-old bay gelding ,Casabian II.

Sisters Emma Sargeant and Katie Shaw filled the next three places, all on six-year-old mares. Emma took fourth and sixth on Fantaisie B and Cicero’s Girl W Z, and Katie claimed fifth on Firisja II.

A total of nine combinations achieved a treble clear and now go forward to the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
