Helen Tredwell from Finmere, Buckinghamshire is off to Horse of the Year Show in October after taking victory in the Connolly's RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second Round at The College Equestrian Centre in Keysoe on Monday, riding Philip Tuckwell’s Galtur.
Eighty-four competitors chased the much coveted top two qualification Spots for the Connolly's RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Final taking place at this year’s Horse of the Year Show, but this big number was reduced to twenty for the second round with just seven reaching the jump-off, Helen securing the win from the third draw on Philip’s home-bred six-year-old gelding Galtur.
Only two treble clears were produced at Keysoe, with the other going to Adam Botham for a steady and accurate round to claim the second spot on Annie Burton’s Quarrycrest Reflection. The Clover Echo x Cavalier Royale seven-year-old is a full brother to Piggy French’s 2* eventer Quarrycrest Echo.
Beth Vernon and Moneybroom Dancer provided the fastest four faults of the jump-off, but just missed out on a qualification space as she tucked into third place.
