It was Elinor Strapp from Robertsbridge, East Sussex who claimed the top spot in the Horseware Bronze League qualifier at Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre in Hampshire on Sunday.
With all competitors hoping to place in the top three to secure a sought after qualification spot for the Horseware Bronze League Semi Finals, which will run in August, a strong field of seventy-two starters was reduced to twenty-eight for a hotly contended jump-off.
Elinor took the win with a penultimate flyer on Tequila Royale, an 11 year-old bay mare owned by Tamara Strapp, which she has competed for six years. Crossing the finish line on her double clear in 36.85 seconds, this pair secured victory by just a fraction of a second.
Second place was taken by Southerly Roberts from Hook, Hampshire. Riding her 10 year-old bay mare, Fizz IV, this pair challenged from 14th draw, producing their double clear in 37.09 seconds to take home their qualification place.
Winner of the 2015 Bronze League Final at Horse of the Year show, Beth Mantel rode in to third place with Truly Scrumptious III, a 17-year-old bay mare she has jumped since 2008. Hot on the heels of Southerly, Beth posted her double clear in 37.11 seconds.
