Anoushka Mauree Secures Victory in the Haygain Pony Discovery Second Round at Brook Farm Training Centre

Anoushka Mauree from Newbury, Berkshire fought hard to ride away victorious in the Haygain Pony Discovery Second at Brook Farm Training Centre in Romford, Essex on Saturday and in doing so, she secured a place in the Haygain Pony Discovery Championship Final.

All twenty-one competitors were set on securing one of the ten qualification places available for the Championship Final, which will be held at the British Showjumping National Championships. The first two nail biting rounds whittled the field down to just five combinations for the final jump off and they were all hoping to deliver a treble clear and claim the top spot.

It was 12 year-old Anoushka who stormed to victory on board Cnoc Mordan Blackie, a 9 year-old iron grey gelding owned by Arlina Mauree. This combination kept their cool as they posted two accurate clears to progress through to the final round. Being drawn second to last in the final jump off allowed Anoushka to size up the task ahead of her, which she did in formidable style posting a treble clear in 38.21 seconds.

Second place went to 12 year-old Millicent Stennett from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk as she rode the only other treble clear of the competition on board Claire Stennett’s 9 year-old chestnut gelding, Abercippyn Clancy. Adopting the method of more haste less speed, Millicent sailed clear into second place in a time of 45.86 seconds.

Keira Riley, aged 13, from Halstead, Essex went into third place riding Carri Ann Rankin’s 8 year-old grey gelding Irish Smurf. Keira rode a lightning fast round in 33.80 seconds only to see the final fence fall as she crossed the finish line.
