Amanda Clark Wins the Haygain Pony Discovery Second Round at Badgworth Arena

A very happy Amanda Clark took on a strong field at Badgworth Arena in Ayrbridge, Somerset on Sunday to ride away as the winner of the Haygain Pony Discovery Second Round.

Seventeen keen competitors began the class all hoping to secure one of the ten qualification places available for the Championship Final, which will be held at the British Showjumping National Championships. After two closely fought rounds, an astonishing thirteen combinations were left to contest for the top spot against the clock.  

Sixteen year-old Amanda from Taunton, Somerset gave a splendid performance to be crowned winner on board Tillys Dragonfly, a 9 year-old chestnut mare owned by Rebecca Clark. This combination used all of their talent to produce a treble clear in a truly unbeatable time of just 36.41 seconds. 

Second place went to Ryan Lockwood, aged 15, from Marlborough, Wiltshire riding Michael Whitaker’s 9 year-old bay mare, Nelly III. Securing a treble clear and crossing the finish line in 36.41 seconds, Ryan saw himself jump to inside the top two.

Jade Williams, aged 15, from Cardiff, Wales sailed in to third place on board Gemma Williams’ 11 year-old bay mare Big Star Dollar. This combination produced an accurate round to clock up their treble clear in 42.50 seconds.

NB: Qualifications will be updated pending official grading of results.

The British Showjumping National Championships 2016 will take place during the 9th – 14th August at the National Agricultural and Exhibition Centre (NAEC), Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.
