Allington CSI 2* - Day One

ALLINGTON
Matthew Sampson claimed victory in day one’s big tour class at Allington 2*. He took the 1.45m in fine style by 1.66 sec on Felicity Deakin’s 13-year-old Cecilia, a Coronado x Caletto I mare.
Keith Shore brought the Indoctro sired 15-year-old gelding Unique XVIII into second with Joe Clayton and Steve Barnes’ nine-year-old Millioninmind in third in the 42 starter class.
The medium tour 1.35m was a Whitaker whitewash with three members of the famous dynasty taking the top three places. Joe Whitaker emerged on top with his father Steven’s nine-year-old mare Lavarno, winning by half a sec, beating his cousin Louise on Di Lampard and Dietmar Akermann’s home-bred Balou Du Rouet nine-year-old Ruby VIII. Joe’s sister Ellen took third with her own Irish-bred eight-year-old Fleur VI.
Abbie Crippen headed the small tour 1.30m on the speedy Dutch-bred 14-year-old Vilka B with a 1.35 sec margin over David Murdoch and his own Heartbreaker seven-year-old Entesar. Paul Barker and Lynne Barker’s 11-year-old gelding Sandors Legacy took third.
Ella Popely won the gold tour 1.20m on her mother Lea’s Luidam 11-year-old mare Liitle Luidam, pushing Stacey Cook into second on her seven-year-old mare Ninola by 0.82 sec. Kathryn Ellison on Hanleen Sultis took third.
Chelsea Skelton topped the silver tour 1.10m on Janet Elvin’s 14-year-old Cheleko GB Z, taking the win by 0.32 sec from Michael Fursedonn and Foxtrot Van Den Aard with India Bussey on Dior in third.
