Weston Lawns Equitation Centre Host First Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Second Round of 2015
Monday 11 May 2015

Yesterday saw fifty-three starters battle it out in the first Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Second Round of 2015. The second round was hosted by Weston Lawns Equitation Centre in Bulkington, Warwickshire and was again held during their Pony Premier Show.
With three direct qualifying places on offer for the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show, each starting combination was hoping to take one of these places home. Twelve combinations achieved a first round clear in class to go forward to round two. Six double clears were then delivered, giving those ponies and riders a place in the final jump off.
Having been victorious in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round the day before, 14 year-old Georgia Taylor-Jones from Porthcawl, Mid Glamorgan continued her winning streak. Georgia was once again on board the 8 year-old grey gelding Kingstown Rebel owned by Sonya Fitch Peyton and they produced yet another treble clear to clinch the top spot. Their quick time of 47.19 seconds gave them a half a second advantage and secured them a place at Horse of the Year Show.
Fifteen year-old Harry Charles took second place on Phoenix V, a 6 year-old chestnut mare owned by John & Laura Renwick and Peter Charles MBE. The combination secured the only other treble clear of the class in a time of 47.78 seconds.
The third and final qualifying place went to 15 year-old Sophie Bennett from St John, Jersey on Killy Colour Code, a 9 year-old skewbald gelding, owned by her mother Emma. Sophie and Killy Colour Code were quick over the jump off course, crossing the line in 44.22 seconds, but they incurred an unlucky 4 faults at the penultimate fence.
With the three direct qualifying tickets for the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show having been allocated, the combinations in fourth and fifth took home the chance to compete in the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Masters at the forthcoming British Showjumping National Championships.
