The Gift of Giving This Christmas – Olympia’s Charity Box Scheme
Friday 01 November 2019

It is a little-known fact that each year Olympia, The London International Horse Show works with companies and individuals to offer disadvantaged children and adults the chance to come and have a Christmas party like no other in an Olympia box. Over the Show week, more than 20 hospitality boxes are dedicated to different charities, giving more than 400 individuals a chance that they wouldn’t normally have, to spend the day celebrating at Olympia.
Organised by Georgina Andrews, charities who have benefitted from this scheme in the past include The Carers Trust which provides support for young and adult carers, The Golden Lion Children’s Trust, which aims to provide happiness to children with special needs and disadvantaged young people, numerous Riding for the Disabled Groups as well as many more.
The Charity Box Scheme allows up to 18 guests, selected by the chosen charity, to attend the Show. Their guests can enjoy the wonderful Olympia arena atmosphere as well as a light meal and refreshments. Each guest also takes home an Olympia programme, cap and rosettes as a memento of their special day out. When possible, the Shetland Pony foal also comes to visit the Charity boxes. This fluffy visitor is particularly special for charity groups such as Meningitis Now.
The scheme has been running for over 25 years and we are now looking for new individuals and companies to sponsor the Olympia Charity Boxes so it can continue into the future. The Charity Boxes cost £595 + VAT (£714) to sponsor and can be sponsored by an individual, group of individuals, charitable trust or company. Each sponsor can choose their own charity to benefit from the box, or select from one of the regular charities. Each sponsor receives two Gallery badges so that they can come and enjoy Olympia for the day, as well as visit their selected charity in their box.
