Claudia Moore wins the Pony Jumping Trophy Grand Prix in Lyon
Saturday 02 November 2019
It was an incredible performance by 14 year-old Claudia Moore from Essex earlier today when she claimed the Pony Jumping Trophy Grand Prix win at the CSIO 5* World Cup Qualifier Show in Lyon France.
Riding the 15 year-old Elando van de Roshoeve, owned by her mother Katrina, they were one of only five combinations that achieved a first-round clear across the 1.35m course to qualify for the jump-off. Joining her was fellow British rider Tatiane Mauree with her mother Arlina’s 9 year-old bay mare Horseabout Zibu with the other three riders being Lily Engelsman (NED), Ilona Mezzadri (FRA) and Ella Quickley (IRL).
It was an unfortunate 4 penalties picked up for Tatiane which saw her finish in 5th place with the only two jump off clears being achieved; one from Claudia and the other from Lily. It was Claudia though who stood out as being in a league of her own when she posted a blistering, foot-perfect clear, more than four seconds ahead of Lily to claim the title as her own.
It was a high octane win with the capacity audience willing on the young riders and their ponies. The course was a big one that asked a lot of questions but for Claudia, they were questions that she had no trouble answering in incredible style by delivering Elando to every fence with exacting precision.
