KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Cherwell Competition Centre

Cherwell Competition Centre in Oxfordshire hosted a KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round on Sunday 10th May and the class attracted a total of sixty-two eligible starting combinations, all of whom were competing for a place in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final at the British Showjumping National Championships.
Every rider was keen to secure a treble clear to guarantee them of a place in the final, and after three rounds of competition, eight combinations bagged the desired result.
Alex Bishop, aged 24, from Lewes, East Sussex took the top spot on board Matthew Pike’s 5 year-old bay gelding Ars Skehanagh Vivendi. The combination took an early lead after being drawn second to go in final jump off and their round proved to be unbeatable. They not only delivered a treble clear, but they did so in 35.05 seconds.
Emma-Jo Slater, aged 36, from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire finished in the runner up spot with April Love, a 6 year-old bay mare owned by Robert Crisp. This combination secured their third and final clear in 36.39 seconds.
Third place was taken by 19 year-old Lauren Betteridge from Gloucestershire and she was on board her mother Lorraine’s 6 year-old bay mare CSF Lady Anya. A treble clear in 41.01 seconds ensured the combination of a podium finish.
With a further five riders also securing a treble clear, eight combinations from this second round will now go forward to the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.

NB: Qualifications will be updated pending official grading of results.
The British Showjumping National Championships 2015 will be hosted at the National Agricultural and Exhibition Centre (NAEC), Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire during the 11th – 16th August.
