Rachel Proudley Dominates Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Second Round at Stainsby Grange
Wednesday 29 April 2026

Stainsby Grange hosted a strong field at the weekend for the Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Second Round, where 42 rider and horse combinations came forward to take on a technical track designed by Jason Abbs.
With a valuable qualification on the line for both the final at Horse of the Year Show and the British Showjumping National Championships in August, competition was always expected to be fierce. Only seven combinations managed to produce the all-important double clear rounds to progress to the jump-off, setting the stage for a closely fought finale.
It was Rachel Proudley who proved unbeatable, delivering a superb performance aboard Sarah Borthwick’s Emoraldi - Terma Z. The pair produced three immaculate clear rounds and stopped the clock in an impressive 41.56 seconds to take the win.
“Alfie is owned by Sarah Borthwick who has been a long term owner at HK Horses, he was bought as a foal and put through the system at HK the whole way. He’s seven this year and went to Lanaken last year as a six year old. Toby Parsons does a great job breaking and producing all the young horses at HK, then when they are ready to do a bit more we take them over. It’s a real team effort! The plan was to jump the Redpost Foxhunter Second Rounds this summer but he qualified straight away at the first one. We couldn’t be happier with him.
“It was a busy class for me as I had four horses in it and they all jumped clear in the first round, so it was busy swopping on and off the different horses, then three whet through to the jump off. With only seven in the jump off and me having three of them it was quite busy, there was a bit of rushing around. The course was built very fairly, with probably the right number of clears coming through to the final round. There were a nice few options to turn in the jump off, to the last there was an option to go inside or go around, it was slightly on an angle which proved more difficult, but we managed to pull it off. I actually finished up first and second with another HK horse, Navita which was also bought as a foal.
“Alfie will keep ticking over now until the final and will hopefully head to Lanaken for the seven-year-olds. He is still in grade for the HOYS Grade C and Talentseekers so we will aim him at those and hopefully qualify for a couple more classes at HOYS. HK Horses have given me such a great opportunity to ride their horses, it wouldn’t be possible without them, I can’t thank them enough.
“I’ve had a great show at Stainsby Grange this weekend, it’s our local venue, they put on really great show, everyone is so friendly and helpful.” Rachel said.
Remarkably, Proudley also secured second place, this time riding Navita, producing another polished triple clear in 41.88 seconds, underlining her dominance across the class.
Third place went to Samantha Wiseman, who was the final combination to achieve a triple clear, guiding As His Lordship home in 43.98 seconds to complete the podium.
The class highlighted the precision and consistency required at Foxhunter level, with every fault proving costly in the battle for qualification. The top two combinations will now go forward directly to the Horse of the Year Show Final, while the top five will also secure their place at the British Showjumping National Championships, where they will compete in the Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Masters in August.
