The FEI Jumping European Championships for Veterans took place this year in Darmstadt-Kranichstein, Germany, from 8th – 11th September 2022, where the Great British Team jumped under the title sponsor banner of Team NAF.
Thursday
In the opening 1.25m competition, 39 horse and rider competitions from 10 different European nations came forward to start the first individual and team competition in a speed round, where penalties were added to the time. The team posted some quick rounds, and after round 1, Britain’s team members rankings were as follows:

Friday
The team final concluded on day two of the competition with each team member jumping another 2 rounds over difficult 1.25m courses.
In the first round, the team put in a great performance with James Loffett and Michaela Tomlinson jumping clear and Faye Riddington-Smith also jumping clear for an unlucky time fault. The team finished round one on a score of 16.11 having only added 1 fault to their overall score.
The second round would prove problematic for all riders, with the team all having either a pole down or time faults. They eventually finished in 4th place with an overall score of 26.11.
Following these two rounds of jumping, three British riders finished in the top 25 individually and would go forward onto the individual final on Sunday to contest for the medal positions:
James Loffett – 7th on 6.53
Michaela Tomlinson – 12th on 9.55
Faye Riddington-Smith – 19th on 13.03
Sunday
The individual final would require both speed and accuracy and the course was now set at 1.35m. Michaela Tomlinson jumped 2 foot-perfect clear rounds to finish 6th on her overnight score of 9.55.
Faye Riddington-Smith also jumped 2 clear rounds, adding an unfortunate 2 time faults to her overall score and finishing 12th on 15.03.
