USE OF HELMET CAMERAS AT BRITISH SHOWJUMPING EVENTS

Monday 20 October 2014

British Showjumping would like to inform all members, show organisers and officials that the use of helmet mounted cameras at British Showjumping Events is not allowed.

This follows a recent study, on behalf of British Eventing, undertaken by the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) to conduct a literary review of research relating to the influence of helmet mounted cameras on the safety performance of helmets.   Due to the fact that there is very little research material available, TRL recommended that further research be undertaken.

Therefore, any permissions previously given by or on behalf of the Chief Executive to wear a helmet mounted camera are withdrawn.

Safety for horses and riders is a top priority for British Showjumping and further details of this extremely important research will be announced in due course.
