Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Second Round at Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre
Monday 22 July 2013

This weekend also saw Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre host a Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter second round. This particular second round was held on Sunday 21st July 2013 and it was again held during the venue’s Pony Premier Show. Thirty combinations came forward to contest the class.
With three direct qualifying tickets available for the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS), all of the starting combinations were vying for one of these tickets. From all the starters, only two combinations went on to produce two clear rounds to make it through into the second jump off. The jump off saw just one treble clear produced.
The only treble clear of the class was produced by 16 year-old Callum Tusler from West Sussex on Filkins Final Mission, a 12 year-old black mare owned by Fiona Tusler. The combination’s immaculate third clear was delivered in 52.43 seconds and their solid performance secured the top spot.
Second place was taken by 15 year-old Rory Aird from Lanarkshire and he was on Unorthodox Blue, a 14 year-old grey gelding owned by John Aird. Rory and Unorthodox Blue collected an unfortunate 4 faults in the jump off, but their double clear from earlier on in the competition ensured a second place finish.
In third place was 16 year-old Aimee Jones from Leicestershire. Aimee was on board the 14 year-old palomino mare, Coppindell Pizarro, owned by Susan Jones. Aimee was one of only three combinations to make through into the first jump off, in which they finished on 4 faults.
With the top three taking the direct qualifying tickets for the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS); the riders and ponies finishing in fourth and fifth just missed out on HOYS. However, they did take home the chance to compete at The Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival 2013.
