Sienna Charles is best of the Brits with a five-star podium place in Falsterbo

Sienna Charles eased Stardust into second in the 5* 1.50m Grand Prix qualifier in Falsterbo, Sweden.

Forty-two competitors contended this speed class over a 12-fence 1.50m track designed by renowned course-designer Frank Rothenberger with Belgium’s Abdel Said outpacing the field to claim victory on Zasou Vom Claashof.

Sienna proved 2.16 seconds behind the winner to take the runner-up spot on the 15-year-old Chacco-Blue x Con Air 7 mare Stardust.

“I’m really happy with her performance.  It was a fast class and she’s naturally got a very small stride, so I tried to keep as tight as possible with my lines to make up time.  She’s in great shape at the moment and I’m looking forward to the rest of the year with her,” said Sienna.

Sienna also put up a good performance for Great Britain’s Team Audevard in the CSIO5* Falsterbo 1.60m Nations Cup with the Typhoon S 11-year-old Chawton, making just one mistake for four faults in round one but delivering a flawless clear in round two.  The team of Sienna with Joe Stockdale (Ebanking), Chloe Aston (Akito Von Rocherath Z) and Olli Fletcher (Hello William) finished fifth.  Sweden took the win on only four faults over the two rounds with a fence in hand over The USA in second and Ireland in third, also on eight faults.

Sienna was impressed with Chawton: “He has been exceptional over the past two weeks having only just stepped up to this level; he’s done nothing but impress us.  It feels like we’re learning together, so that’s a special feeling, but we have a very strong partnership and I’m excited to see what we can achieve together!”
