Squibb Demolition Pony Foxhunter Second Rounds begin at South View Equestrian Centre

Following an exciting year of qualifying competitions, the Squibb Demolition Pony Foxhunter Second Rounds started this weekend (Saturday 12th May 2012) at South View Equestrian Centre in Cheshire.

With three direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Squibb Demolition Pony Foxhunter Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS), the 24 rider and pony combinations that started the class on Saturday knew what they had to do to qualify.

From the 24 starters, a total of four combinations made it into the final jump off and with only three of the riders collecting their vital treble clear; the three direct qualifying places for the Championship Final were soon filled.

The overall winner of the Regional Final was the talented 16-year-old Beth Vernon Mansfield, Nottinghamshire who rode Allyson Blagg’s Zirina II clear over the jump off course in a time of only 28.15 seconds.

Second place was filled by 14-year-old Patrick Williams from Lanark, Lanarkshire. Patrick rode his father’s (Patrick Williams) Gleneaskey Touch around the jump off course in 29.63 to secure a direct qualifying place for the Final.

Third place and subsequently the final direct qualifying place went to 16-year-old Holly Jones from Pershore, Worcestershire and she rode Claudia Pallet’s Ridge End Reberto clear in a time of 36.52 seconds.

The riders and ponies who finished fourth and fifth missed out on the HOYS qualification this time around, but they did take home the chance to compete at the Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012).
