Scott Brash MBE announced as a 2013 Olympic Athlete of the Year

Scott Brash MBE has been included on a list of 35 athletes that are receiving the Olympic Athlete of the Year honour from the British Olympic Association (BOA).

Working in partnership with each sport’s national governing body, the BOA selected athletes who they feel deserve recognition for their performances over the past 12 months.

“I would like to congratulate each and every athlete who has been named as the BOA Olympic Athlete of the Year, as well as the performance directors, coaches and National Governing Body personnel who have helped these athletes in making 2013 another successful year.”  Commented British Olympic Association Chief Executive Officer Bill Sweeney

Following his performance at the European Championships in Herning, Denmark where he won Team Gold and Individual Bronze. After his victory at the Global Champions Tour Final in Doha, Qatar, Scott was crowned the overall GCT champion, in doing so, he overtook fellow  2012 London Olympic team member Ben Maher MBE as show-jumping’s world number one.

Iain Graham British Showjumping Chief Executive commented “We are delighted Scott has been recognised by the BOA as he has continued his outstanding Olympic form throughout 2013, providing the sport and his team of supporters many memorable results on the World Stage”.
