Robrecht Cnockaert, Showjumping Team Vet for GBs World Class Programme, honoured after 16 years’ service
Friday 30 December 2022

Showjumping Team Vet for GBs World Class Programme, Robrecht Cnockaert, was thanked and honoured for his many years’ service at a special presentation held at the recent London International Horse Show, which took place from 15-19 December 2022.
Robrecht retired after more than 16 years’ service with the World Class Programme last year.
He qualified as a veterinarian at Gent University in Belgium and joined British Equestrian’s World Class Programme as Showjumping Team Vet in 2005. The role saw him travelling the world looking after the health and wellbeing of team GB horses on the international stage, ensuring they were able to perform at their best when it mattered most.
During Robrecht's tenure as Showjumping Team Vet, British athletes and teams won a total of 10 medals across World Championships, European Championships and the Olympic Games.
He was there for some of the biggest moments in British showjumping’s recent history, including the historic team gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games, plus Nick Skelton and Ben Maher’s individual golds at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 respectively.
Robrecht’s final call-up for team GB came last year, when he travelled first to Tokyo for the delayed Olympic Games, then to the European Championship in Riesenbeck in Germany.
He was a huge part of Britain’s showjumping success, always going above and beyond to ensure team GB horses were able to reach their top potential when it mattered most.
Everyone at British Equestrian, the World Class Programme and British Showjumping would like to thank Robrecht Cnockaert for his many years of service to the sport.
