Results from the NAF Pony Five Star Style for Performance

Wednesday 20 August 2014

The NAF Pony Five Star Style for Performance took place on Monday 18th August and they were a key part of the National Inter Academy Team Show held at Weston Lawns Equitation Centre in Bulkington, Warwickshire.

The class was divided into a 1* section and 2* section. The 1* section was for riders who have gained their 1* Award of the NAF Pony Five Star Performance Awards Programme, whilst those who have achieved their 2* Award and above were eligible for the 2* section.

Each section was made up of two parts with the first part requiring riders to complete a flatwork test before moving onto part two, which involved jumping a course of up to eight fences. Those in the 1* section competed over 0.70cm fences, whilst the 2* competitors jumped a 0.80cm track.

Competitors were judged on both parts by the selected panel, which was made up of UKCC Level 3 Coaches Sonya Brotherton, Ernest Dillon, Nicky Florence and Nicola Sheard. The judges were particularly pleased to see that those combinations who received good comments and scores in the flatwork element also went on to show great technique when jumping.

Megan Maguire, aged 12 from Horsham, West Sussex took victory in the 1* section with Serina, a 7 year-old chestnut mare owned by Megan’s mother, Karen.

The 2* section was won by 14 year old Scott Dollemore from East Grinstead, West Sussex on his father Mark’s 8 year-old grey gelding Grantstown Rebel
