Prestige Italia continue their support of British Showjumping’s Big Star Championship

British Showjumping is delighted to announce that Italian saddle manufacturer, Prestige Italia, will be continuing their support of the Big Star Championship, following a successful three-year term as title sponsor.

Formerly known as the National Six-Year-Old Championship, the event was renamed Big Star Championship, in recognition of the 2009 Championship Winner Big Star, the same horse who spectacularly took showjumper Nick Skelton to individual Gold Medal glory at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The Championship showcases talented young six-year-olds on our home showjumping circuit, rewarding consistent jumping over three rounds and culminating in a final at the British Showjumping National Championships (BSNC) in August each year.

The winning combination - at the now named PRESTIGE ITALIA BIG STAR CHAMPIONSHIP - is awarded the coveted Big Star Trophy, as well as industry-wide recognition for the young horse’s bright future. Previous winners of the Championship have included:

  • 2022 - Christopher Smith and One Gem
  • 2021 - Ronnie Jones and Kaleche
  • 2020 - Lucy Townley and Billy Masai
  • 2019 - Ronnie Jones and Interstar B
  • 2018 - Michael Potter and Haya Loma N
  • 2017 - Chloe Reynolds and Grenadier Volo
  • 2016 - Mark Williams and Greenacre Diadoro

Prestige Italia was founded in the 1970s, when it began creating products designed specifically for the well-being of both horse and rider. Harmoniously combining tradition and innovation, the company designs saddles with agility and control at the forefront of their minds. Proudly made in Italy, their craftsmen work passionately on every stitch from the heart of TRISSINO, Vicenza province.

“We are really proud to support [British Showjumping] again and be part of this amazing event. We look forward to work with [them] and doing big things together!” stated Prestihe Italia’s Caroline Rossi.

Jess Bowling, Commercial Manager at British Showjumping, commented:

“We are delighted to head into 2023 with the support of Prestige Italia. They epitomize the reason we run these young horse classes; to carefully produce and showcase future superstars. Their support to British Showjumping is invaluable, we look forward to once again working alongside them in the years to come.”
