Monday Round up from the British Showjumping Club and Just for Schools Championships

Club Championships

Opening the 2022 championships at the NAEC in Stoneleigh was the National Club Junior 60cm Final was won by Devon based William Eustace & Pride of Rineen, a 19 year-old grey gelding. They produced 1 of only 2 double clears in the jump off, winning the class by 2.5 seconds.

In the National Club Senior 60cm Final it was Serena Rees from Oxfordshire and the 15 year-old bay gelding Lordsoak Caramel Surprise, who took the win with a 3 second lead.

The National Club Junior 70cm Final was won by Lorna Wood from Hull, riding 18 year-old grey gelding Silverlea Peppermint. This combination were the last to go in the jump off and did enough to win the class, having also held the lead on her other ride Passford Native Dancer, eventually finishing 4th.

Serena Rees & Lordsoak Caramel Surprise took their second win of the championship in the National Club Senior 70cm Final, taking the lead by almost 2 seconds.

Winning the National Club Junior 80cm Final was Zachary Bradshaw from Greater Manchester and the 15 year-old bay gelding Little Turbo. This combination stormed into the lead, winning by 2 seconds.

The National Club Senior 80cm Final was won by Melanie Widdows from Reading who piloted the 16 year-old chestnut mare Mayday XXI across the finish line, less than half a second ahead of second place.

Taking his second win of the day was William Eustace who also won the National Club Junior 90cm Final by the tightest of margins, piloting Dungimmon Splash, a 14 year-old skewbald gelding, across the finish line to win the class by 0.01 seconds.

Louise King from Oxfordshire was victorious in the National Club Senior 90cm Final riding the 15 year-old bay gelding, Handels Vienna. The pair stormed around the jump off to jump 1 of 2 double clears, winning by almost 10 seconds.

The National Club Junior 1.00m Final was won by Lancashire’s Lucy Melchers & Keltic Diamond Diva, a 13 year-old bay mare, as the only clear in the class.

In the final class of the day in Arena 1, it was Kizzy Okeefe from Devon who secured the win in the National Club Senior 1.00m Final riding the 13 year-old black mare, Meadmoor Voodoo Lilly, having ridden the only clear in the jump off.

 

Just for Schools Championship

The opening class was the Schools 70cm League Class, won by Rebekka Sutherland from Forehill Primary School riding the 15 year-old dun gelding Myshall Duncan. The combination successfully crossed the finish line in an incredibly close jump off, winning by 0.55 seconds.

In the Summer Team Schools 60cm Final, it was the Clifton College team who were victorious, the team was comprised of:

  • Scarlett Neil and Tully James
  • Grace Rickards and Talponciau Herloom
  • Isla Brown and Little Blue Peep
  • Maddie Fleming and Goldie

Eva Henton Young, from Brooke Priory School, took first place in the Summer Individual Schools 60cm Final riding Covenham Cameo, a 20 year-old bay mare.

It was Dixie Grammar School Silver team, made up of the below competitors who took victory in the Summer Team Schools 70cm Final, having been the only team to finish on a final score of 0:

  •  Emily O’Higgins and Erne Valley Ultan
  • Oliver Dunk and Drumcong Ben
  • LilyMay Dawe and Adlea Perry One

The Summer Individual Schools 70cm Final was won by Ratcliffe College’s Annie Thompson, riding the 15 year old Appaloosa mare Spring Lillie, who took victory by almost 2 seconds.

Riders from Norwich High School for Girls took the Summer Team Schools 80cm Final. The team was:

  • Chloe Suppiah and Le Petit Lorardo
  • Bethany Barrett and Davco Upsala
  • Evie Marcantonio and Becky III
  • Kate Barrett and Marley’s Clover

In the Summer Individual Schools 80cm Final, Kate Anderson from Northfield School took the win riding Portmore Stroller, a 17 year-old bay gelding.

The Summer Team Schools 90cm Final was won by the Clifton College Blue Team:

  • Jemima Windows and Warren Mini Mix
  • Emily Hall and Venz Boucheron  
  • Will Brown and Sea Enna III
  • Catherine Collins and City Image

Emma Robertson, from Dunbar Grammar School, took first place by 0.4 seconds in the Summer Individual Schools 90cm Final, riding Black Swan Du Buhot, an 11 year-old grey gelding.

In the Summer Team Schools 1.00m Final, it was Berkhamsted School who were victorious, the team were:

  • Harriet Beeby Wynn and Affricks Charmer
  • Josie Reid and Kingswalk Moonraker
  • Tascha Lawman and B F Unistar
  • Georgie Beeby Wynn and Affricks Eclipse.

Lily Hine, from Cheltenham Ladies College, won the Summer Individual Schools 1.00m Final riding 10 year-old grey gelding Dakota Blue.

Berkhamsted School were also victorious in the Summer Team Schools 1.10m Final, with the team of:

  • Tascha Lawman and B F Unistar
  • Georgie Beeby Wynn and Affricks Eclipse
  • Harriet Beeby Wynn and Affricks Charmer
  • Harley Echlin and Knockenpower Bobby.

The Summer Individual Schools 1.10m Final title was taken by Alexis Chaney from Millfield School riding Quissini LS, a 10 year-old grey gelding.
