Looking ahead to the Voltaire Design Under 25 British Championship Final at The London International Horse Show

The Voltaire Design Under 25 British Championship marks the start of competition at the London International Horse Show on Thursday 15 December, and will showcase some of the best young riders in the country.
With former Voltaire Design Under 25 British Championship title holder Jodie Hall-McAteer, who claimed the title in 2019 and 2021, not jumping this year, the competition is set wide open for a new Champion and an exciting display of showjumping talent.
Riders who automatically gain a coveted spot in the competition are those who have represented Great Britain at Senior FEI Nations CupTM level in 2022, including Harry Charles the current World No.1 Under 25 showjumper, who was last year’s leading rider and part of the FEI World Championship team Bronze-medal team. Joining him is his sister Sienna Charles, who jumped at the 3* Nations Cup in Madrid, Joe Fernyhough, who was part of the 3* Nations Cup team which came 1st in Gorla Minore, with teammate Amy Inglis.
Other places go to the members of the Junior and Young Rider teams who represented Great Britain at the Youth European Championships earlier this year. Elizabeth Baker and Lily Attwood, who were both part of the bronze medal winning Young Riders team at the Youth European Championships will be there competing for the title.
The entire Junior European team made up of Iwan Carpenter, Jennifer Billington, Red Morgan, Lauren Caroline and Claudia Moore, who also finished 2nd at the Youth Equestrian Games this past summer with Team Europe, will all be present and ready to fight for the title of Voltaire Design Under 25 British Champion.
The class will be a true family occasion for the Charles’, as Scarlett Charles will also take her place in the starting line-up, alongside William Fletcher and Emma Crawford.
These riders will be joined by a host of Britain’s most exciting up-and-coming Show Jumping talent, who take the final places in the competition, having qualified at dedicated classes at selected British Showjumping Shows.
Qualifying at the Aintree Equestrian Centre Winter Classic is Alexander Mclean, Faye Sutton, who was selected on the Young Rider Nations Cup team this year at Fontainebleau, and Sophie Evans who was part of the Pony European Team this year.
Qualifying at Arena UK is winner Jessica Hewitt, Leonie Aitkenhead and Tabitha Kyle, who was also part of the Pony European Team this year.
Robert Murphy, who is the current British Showjumping National Champion and winner of two major classes at the 2022 Horse of the Year Show, will join the line-up alongside William Walker and Izac Ketteridge, who all qualified at Morris Equestrian Centre.
