KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Harrogate Riding Centre

The 2014 KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Rounds continued this weekend at Harrogate Riding Centre in North Yorkshire. The second round was held on Saturday 21st June 2014 and a total of thirty-eight eligible combinations came forward with the aim of getting to the Championship Final.

All of the combinations were competing with the end goal of producing a treble clear in mind in order to qualify for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final, which will be held at the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival.

The final jump off was well fought out by the fifteen combinations contesting it and eight competitors then went on to produce the all-important treble clear, which meant that the final line up was to be decided by the clock.

The fastest treble clear of the class was produced by 29 year-old Nicky Sutcliffe from Stillington, North Yorkshire with Anne Lumley’s 7 year-old grey gelding Cornelius III. The combination was drawn fourth to go in the jump off and Nicky knew that a quick treble clear early on would put her into a strong position. She duly achieved this result, delivering that treble clear in just 49.78 seconds, a time that could not be beaten.

Commenting on her win Nicky said “I took the ride on Cornelius about a year ago and I am really pleased with his performances at the moment. I’m really looking forward to what the future holds for us.”

Second place went to 19 year-old Danielle Kenington from Holme on Spalding Moor, North Yorkshire and she was on board Angela Kendra’s 11 year-old grey mare Merits Girl. This combination secured their treble clear in a time of 51.28 seconds.

Taking third place was 16 year-old Ellen Mcpherson from High Peak, Derbyshire on Lesley McRoberts’ 6 year-old bay gelding Urian De La Wantz. They went on to achieve their treble clear in 55.43 seconds.

With another five combinations also achieving a treble clear, a total of eight combinations from this second round will now go forward to the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
