KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Final at Farnham Town Show
Tuesday 29 May 2012

The third of the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Finals was held this weekend on Sunday 27th May 2012 at Farnham Town Show in Surrey. The competition attracted 26 starting combinations of horse and rider and riders came from all over the country with the hope of gaining their Championship Final qualification.
Each rider in the Regional Final started with the aim of qualifying for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final, which will be held at the Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012).
Of the 26 combinations that started in the Regional Final, 12 of these made it through to the final jump off round. All of these riders went into the final jump off round hoping to produce the treble clear needed to qualify for the Championship Final.
From the 12 combinations looking for that treble clear, a total of ten went on to produce it, ensuring that their place in the Championship Final was booked. The winning rider for this Regional Final was 32-year-old Nicky Boulter from Farnham, Surrey. Nicky rode Alan Pymont’s Risk It clear over the jump off course in a blistering time of only 34.85 seconds.
The competition proved to be very successful for Nicky as she also rode another impressive treble clear to take second place. Nicky rode Jill Tasker’s Roxina expertly over the jump off course to take second in a time of 38.78 seconds. Nicky’s times meant that she was the only rider to clear the jump off course in less than 40.00 seconds.
In third place was 23-year-old Laura Mantel from Reading, Berkshire and she rode her father’s (Stephen Mantel) horse, Red Haired Mary, clear over the seven fence jump off in a time of 40.17 seconds to give the combination a clear two and a half seconds over fourth place.
A further seven riders also achieved their treble clear and they all completed the jump off course in a time under 50.00 seconds.
