Katie Pytches heads Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Qualifier at Royal Norfolk Show

Royal Norfolk Show in Norwich saw thirty-six keen competitors gather to take part in the Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Qualifier on Wednesday and it was Katie Pytches who stormed to victory after two challenging rounds of jumping.

With just three qualification places on offer for the Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show, all of the competitors were keen to take on Michael Bainbridge’s course. The first round whittled down the competitor numbers until just five talented combinations remained to compete against the clock in the final jump off.

Katie from Loughborough, Leicestershire produced two solid clear rounds on board her own 7 year-old chestnut mare, CSF Olympic Lady. This partnership used their accuracy to leave all the fences standing for a double clear in 56.66 seconds.

Taking home second place and a double clear was Helen Tredwell from Finmere, Buckinghamshire riding Funnycan, a 7 year-old bay mare owned by New Priory Stud. This combination stopped the clock in 58.38 seconds.

Scooping up the final qualification place on offer was Harry Whall from Market Rasen, Lincolnshire riding his own 9 year-old grey stallion, If Ever III. This pair delivered their double clear in 62.26 seconds.
