Jake Saywell crowned the National under 21 Champion

Following on his good form from yesterday’s classes, and adding to his list of achievements, Jake Saywell has today been crowned the National under 21 Champion for 2016 riding Grand Cru Van Paemel. As the only rider to go clear in the jump off, it proved a technical course and Harry Charles, yesterday’s National under 18 Champion, was hot on his heels riding Valvaldi Du Dom. However, Harry was forced to make do with second place in today’s championship. With two other horses in the class, Jake completed the top three with Cantho Z and also got a seventh place with Dakota, yesterday’s winning mare.

Grand Cru Van Paemel is one of Jake’s top horses; together they won junior team gold at the European Chamionships 2014, they were fourth in the Young Riders at the Europeans 2015 and they were also second at the Nations Cup 2015. Having already picked up a HOYS qualifier for Quimari W in the Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Masters by being placed fourth, Jake is on a winning streak, with many more classes still to contend.
