Horse & Hound Senior Foxhunter Second Round at Bury Farm Equestrian Village
Wednesday 04 June 2014

The Horse & Hound Senior Foxhunter Second Rounds continued at Bury Farm Equestrian Village in Slapton, Buckinghamshire. The class took place on Monday 2nd June 2014 and it proved to be popular with competitors, with fifty-eight eligible starters coming forward.
Up for grabs at this second round were two direct qualifying tickets for the Horse & Hound Senior Foxhunter Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show and all of the competitors were aiming to take one of these tickets home.
After two well fought rounds of competition, just six combinations achieved the two clear rounds needed to make it through into the final jump off. Two combinations then went on to secure a treble clear, resulting in the clock becoming crucial in deciding the places.
The fastest treble clear came from 39 year-old Laura Renwick from Maldon, Essex and she partnered Colin Bates’ 7 year-old chestnut gelding Heliodor Hybris. They jumped their treble clear in 46.24 seconds to take the win with just 0.73 seconds in hand. Laura enjoyed a successful class having also taken third place with her own and John Renwick’s 7 year-old bay mare Little Pleasure.
Second place went to 37 year-old Phillip Miller from Harpenden, Hertfordshire on Da Vinci V, a 6 year-old bay stallion owned by Di and Pennie Cornish. This combination secured their treble clear in 46.97 seconds. Phillip also went on to secure fourth place with Indecision, a 7 year-old bay gelding owned by Di Cornish.
The first two horse and rider combinations, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Horse of the Year Show. The first five, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival. Horses and riders that jump a treble clear also qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival.
