Hickstead Derby winner also takes top spot in the International Stairway at the Royal Norfolk Show

Wednesday 26 June 2013

The fifth stage of the International Stairway series took place today (Wednesday 26th June) at the Royal Norfolk Show.

In a field of 24 competitors, four combinations managed first round clears to secure their place in the jump off for their share of the £7,500 prize pot with the 5th jump off spot being taken by Spencer Roe who jumped clear but unfortunately collected a time fault.

It was Hickstead Derby winning combination of Philip Miller and Caritiar Z who took the top spot jumping the only double clear of the competition in a time of 49.75 seconds. The 13 year-old grey gelding is owned by Nigel Eccles, Di Cornish and Pennie Cornish.

Second place went to Spencer Roe partnering his mother Sally’s 10 year-old bay gelding Wonder Why. The combination finished on 1 time penalty.  Chloe Winchester riding her mother Gillian’s 10 year-old bay mare Avoka Valkyrie finished on four faults relegating them into 3rd place.
