Dublin’s Nation Cup Team Announced

The final leg of the 2010 Meydan FEI Nations Cup series will take place this Friday at the Dublin Horse Show. After Great Britain’s victory at Hickstead, British Showjumping have now done enough to secure their place for next year however hopes are still high for a win at this, the last event of the series.
 
World Class Showjumping Performance Manager, Rob Hoekstra has named his team of five as follows:
 
Peter Charles from Alton, Hampshire with Murka’s Pom d’Ami who is jointly owned by Olga White and Team Murka Ltd. This partnership has been the mainstay of the British Team throughout the 2010 Meydan FEI Nations Cup series.
 
Oxfordshire based Tina Fletcher will ride the 11 year old chestnut gelding Hello Sailor who is owned by Lady Pauline Harris. This partnership have been a member of two Meydan FEI Nations Cups, one of them being Hickstead where Tina’s clear round secured the team first place without the need for the fourth team member to jump.
 
William Funnell from Dorking, Surrey will partner the Billy Studs British Bred 9 year old brown stallion Billy Congo. This combination made their first appearance at top level Nations Cups in Falsterbo and since then they have gone from strength to strength jumping 2 clear rounds with only a time fault in each helping the team win the Hickstead Meydan FEI Nations Cup.
 
Midlands based Nick Skelton will ride Beverley Widdowson’s 9 year old eye-catching grey gelding Carlo. This partnership have been jumping well on the International Circuit finishing second in the Wellington Grand Prix andsecond in La Mandria Global Champions Tour. They were also members of the Nations Cup team that finished second in Rome.
 
Nottinghamshire based Michael Whitaker will ride the 10 year old dark bay gelding GIG Amai II who is owned by Beatrice Mertens. Michael is currently lying second on the GBR Ranking List and have also been consistent team members within the Meydan FEI Nations Cup series. Michael and GIG Amai II were also Britain’s representative in the 2010 Geneva World Cup.
 
The Dublin Meydan FEI Nations Cup will be streamed online by FEI TV (www.feitv.org) at 15:50 CEST on Friday 6th August.
