Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre

A packed weekend at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre in Hardwicke, Gloucestershire saw the venue host three of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds across the following heights; 1.00m, 1.10m and 1.15m. The Second Rounds were held on Saturday 27th October 2012 and the eligible horse and rider combinations flocked to the second rounds with the aim of qualifying for the Championships.
Following a competitive season of first round competitions, competitors rode for the chance to qualify for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012 and all of the starting combinations were all hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Championships.
Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Second Round.
This 1.00m National Amateur Second Round proved popular, attracting 30 starting combinations and from these combinations, 11 made it through into the jump off.
In this second round, there was a tie for the winners spot and it was 49-year-old Jacqueline Price from Newport, Gwent who took both winners places on her board her own horses, 17-year-old bay mare Spring Showers and five-year-old chestnut mare Tinkerbells Springtime. Jacqueline rode superb double clears on both of her horses and she completed the jump off course in 40.09 seconds on both horses.
Third place went to Pierre Baber from Kingswood, Gloucestershire and he secured his Championship Final place on board Ulysses W, his own 11-year old bay gelding. The combination achieved their double clear in a time of 43.96 seconds.
Eight more riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round.
The 1.10m National Amateur Second Round attracted 24 starting combinations and again, 11 of these combinations achieved the first round clear required to get through to the jump off.
In this second round, 49-year-old Jacqueline Price from Newport, Gwent again enjoyed success by taking the top spot on board her own 17-year-old bay mare, Spring Showers. In this second round, the combination posted a time of 38.82 seconds clear over the eight fence jump off course to ensure that they won the class by nearly three seconds.
In second place was 22-year-old Pandora Bailey from Hungerford, Berkshire and she achieved her double clear on board her own Visetta, a 10-year-old bay mare. The combination posted a jump off clear in a time of 41.58 seconds.
In third place was 24-year-old Georgina Joynson from Pencader, Dyfed and she secured her Championship Final place on board Mr Mackintosh, her own 17-year old dark bay gelding. The combination achieved their double clear in a time of 41.97 seconds.
Eight more riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Second Round.
This 1.15m Second Round saw 15 combinations start and from these, eight combinations made it through to the jump off.
Securing the win was 18-year-old Jasmine Punter from Wiltshire on board Clio V, her own 10-year old bay mare. The combination flew clear over the nine fence jump off course to secure the win in 46.56 seconds.
Taking second place was 27-year-old Bryony Morris from Shipton Oliffe, Gloucestershire and she secured her Championship Final place on board Stormy Morning, her own 16-year-old dark bay gelding. The combination achieved their double clear in a time of 52.87 seconds.
In third place was 18-year-old Shannon Band from Buckinghamshire on board Barbie Doll, a nine-year-old palomino mare owned by Sandra Band.
Five more riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Championship Final.
