Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Second Round at Morris Equestrian Centre

The Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Second Round at Morris Equestrian Centre in Fenwick, Ayrshire proved to be popular with competitors, attracting twenty-three starters to the class which was held on Saturday 19th October 2013.

Seven competitors secured a place in the jump off to take a direct qualifying place for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 17th November 2013. Five combinations achieved the much wanted double clear and the clock was once again the pivotal factor in deciding the places.

The top spot was taken by the only combination to produce a double clear in less than 34.00 seconds. The win was secured by 35 year-old Claire Skinner from Dunfermline, Fife who was on board her own 12 year-old grey gelding, Irish Law. Claire produced a superb double clear from her ride in a time of 33.76 seconds.

Second place was taken by 23 year-old Denise Gilmour from Coatbridge, Lanarkshire on her own 7 year-old chestnut gelding, Bentley M. This combination also achieved a double clear and they stopped the clock on 35.47 seconds.

Third place went to 23 year-old Andrew Carruthers from Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire. Andrew rode Capriole II, a 6 year-old bay gelding owned by Tom Brewster. The combination delivered their double clear in 36.17 seconds to secure a top three finish.

Four more riders went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Championship Final.
