SouthView Competition and Training Centre in Winsford, Cheshire hosted a Dodson & Horrell 0.95cm National Amateur Second Round on Saturday 4th October and a 1.10m Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Round on Sunday 5th October.

Dodson & Horrell 0.95cm National Amateur Second Round.
Thirty-three combinations started out in this second round and twenty-two made it through into the final jump off. With just the twelve qualification spots available, each and every rider was aiming to secure a double clear in order to put them into contention. Thirteen double clears were produced overall, which meant that the allocation of the qualification places came down to the clock.
Victory was taken by the only combination to break the 40.00 seconds barrier in the jump off. This was achieved by 19 year-old Anya Brown from Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire on board her mother Julie’s 7 year-old bay gelding Carlos VI. Impressively, Anya and Carlos IV held onto the lead for the entire jump off after being drawn first to go. Their double clear in 39.30 seconds proved to be good enough for the win.
Kelly Roberts, 34, from Winsford, Cheshire took second place with her own 6 year-old chestnut mare Strebor Courage. They produced two solid rounds to gain their double clear in 40.11 seconds, which was quick enough for a place in the top two.
Third place went to 17 year-old Katherine Raw Rees, from Telford, Shropshire partnering her own 13 year-old bay mare Peggys Rumour. This combination crossed the finish line in 40.74 seconds to secure their place in the Championship Final.
Nine further combinations also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.95cm National Amateur Championship Final.
