Blue Chip Feed Balancer Pony Newcomers Second Round at Weston Lawns Equitation Show

The fourth Blue Chip Feed Balancer Pony Newcomers Second Round took place in the sunshine this weekend (Saturday 26th May 2012) at Weston Lawns Equitation Show in Warwickshire.

The Blue Chip Feed Balancer Pony Newcomers Second Round was a key part of the Pony Premier Show that was hosted by Weston Lawns and the class attracted over 60 rider and pony combinations.

Up for grabs at this second round were two direct qualifying tickets for the Blue Chip Feed Balancer Pony Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) and the total of 66 rider and pony starting combinations were all vying for one of these tickets.

From all the starters, 11 combinations produced two clear rounds to make it through into the final jump off and three combinations then went on to produce the all important treble clear.

The overall winner of this second round was 15-year-old Romilly Simmons from Taunton, Somerset and she won the class aboard her mother’s (Emma de Bendern Simmons) Magnetoes Dream. Romilly rode the fastest clear of the day to complete the jump off course in a time of 43.66 seconds to cement her place in the Championship Final.

Second place and the second HOYS direct qualifying place went to 15-year-old Rosanne Hegarty from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, who rode her mother’s (Jill Blackwell) pony, Minison, clear over the course in a time of 52.60 seconds.

Just missing out on the HOYS qualification was the combination in third, who also produced an impressive treble clear. 15-year-old Tara McDonald from Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, who was competing on her mother’s (Heather McDonald) Jolys Wonderboy, rode her third clear in a time of 52.85 seconds to secure her opportunity to compete at the Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012).

The combinations in fourth and fifth place also took home their chances to compete at the Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival.
