Ben Maher tops the 80.000€ Grand Prix leader board
Monday 16 May 2011

Sunday played host to the 4* Grand Prix in Linz (Austria) which saw Great Britain’s Ben Maher take the top spot while riding Tripple X III, a horse he jointly owns with Quainton Stud.
With thirty five of the worlds top riders all taking part the Course Designer had to build a worthy course which would only allow the top of the field to go through to the second round. With only four managing to pass the first round test it was Ben Maher and Finland’s Maiju Mallat that managed to jump the only double clears.
Finland was first to go into the ring and jumped a superb clear in a time of 44.52 seconds. It was then Ben’s turn, he kept his cool and showed his class, managing to shave a massive three seconds off Maiju Mallat time. This forced the other two competitors into jumping quick rounds, however they both made mistakes and ended up with faults meaning Ben was the winner and took home the first place prize of a car.
Di Lampard, acting Chef d’Equipe commented “We endured unbelievably bad weather conditions through the night and during the class. Ben’s performance was incredible and he won the class in great style”.
