Lucy Townley Tops the Podium at Bicton Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Second Round

Bicton welcomed 42 horse-and-rider combinations at the weekend for the Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Second Round, where competitors took on Nigel Jess' testing course in pursuit of qualification for this year's Horse of the Year Show. 

The demanding track saw just seven combinations jump clear in both the opening rounds to secure a place in the all-important jump-off, setting up an exciting contest against the clock. 

Producing the quickest of the faultless rounds was Lucy Townley, who partnered Billy Stud's Billy On My Mind to victory with a superb clear in 46.69 seconds, securing both the win and qualification for the Horse of the Year Show. 

Angela Thompson claimed second place aboard Pepzzo AJ, delivering another impressive clear round in 48.87 seconds to also book her ticket to the prestigious championship at the NEC Birmingham this October. 

Joseph Fernyhough completed the podium with Calcourt Trilby, producing the final clear round of the jump-off to finish in 49.35 seconds. 

With their top-two finishes, Lucy Townley and Billy On My Mind, alongside Angela Thompson and Pepzzo AJ, have secured qualification for the Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Championship at the Horse of the Year Show this October.
