Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Round at Royal Leisure Centre

The popular Royal Leisure Centre in Henfield, West Sussex was the host for two of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds, namely a 0.90cm Second Round and a 1.10m Second Round. The classes were held on Saturday 6th October 2012 and following months of competitive riding in the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur First Rounds, riders were competing in order to qualify for the Championship Final.

All of the combinations were hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets in each second round on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012.

This 0.90cm second round attracted 17 eligible starting and a total of eight of these combinations made it through to the jump off and subsequently, will compete in the Championship Final.

The overall winner of this second round was 20-year-old Posy Rollit-Mason from Dunmow, Essex. Posy rode her own 18-year-old bay gelding, Anarnie, and the combination rode an immaculate round over the eight fence jump off course. Their recorded time of 38.84 seconds ensured that the win belonged to them by nearly two seconds.

Second place was grabbed by 19-year-old Jodie Randall from Deal, Kent and she secured second position on board her own nine-year-old dark bay gelding, Paddy Murphy II. The combination’s double clear in a time of 40.46 seconds made sure that second belonged to them.

Posy Rollit-Mason had a good competition as she also secured third place riding Chantelle, a 17-year-old bay mare owned by Poppy Tubby. In this jump off round, Posy and Chantelle lowered just one pole to finish on four faults in just 35.34 seconds.
