Blue Chip Feed Balancer Pony Newcomers Second Round at Field House Equestrian Centre

The third Blue Chip Feed Balancer Pony Newcomers Second Round was this weekend at Field House Equestrian Centre in Staffordshire (Saturday 19th May).

Over 50 combinations started the class with the hope of claiming one of the two Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) direct qualifying tickets that were on offer.

Out of the total 56 starters, 13 pony and rider combinations made it into the final jump off in which they all needed to produce a treble clear to be in with a chance of qualifying for the Blue Chip Feed Balancer Pony Newcomers Championship Final. Six riders duly achieved this.

The eventual winner of this second round was 14-year-old Faye Adams from the West Midlands and she won the class aboard Sarah Billing’s Cisco Bay II. Faye rode a blistering round to clear the jump off course in a time of 40.30 seconds, giving her a clear two second margin over the second placed combination.

Second place and subsequently, the last HOYS direct qualifying place, went to 15-year-old Jodie Crawford from Falkirk, Stirlingshire who rode her father’s (Douglas Crawford) pony, Birchgrove Tiger Woods, over the course in a time of 42.42 seconds.

There were four riders that just missing out on the HOYS qualification but  due to the achievement of an impressive double clear, the combinations in third to sixth took home the opportunity to compete at the Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012).
