HARRY CHARLES WINS INDIVIDUAL SILVER AND MILLIE ALLEN BRONZE IN WIENER NEUSTADT

Following on from their Team Bronze at their European Championships in Wiener Neustadt in Austria GB Junior riders added to their medal tally this afternoon with an Individual Silver and Bronze.
It was 16 year-old Harry Charles from Alton Hampshire with his father Peter’s 10 year-old chestnut Gelding Vivaldi Du Dom that clinched Individual Silver. Sitting in 7th position after the 1st round of the Individuals he put in a phenomenal performance to climb up into the Silver medal position behind French rider Camille Conde Ferreira who took Gold in the final line up.
For 17 year-old Millie Allen, from Stockton-on-Tees it was a Bronze medal finish to make this the 10th medal that she has won for GB at a youth European Championships. Riding her father Peter’s 10 year-old bay stallion Balou Star, she had secured 3rd position after the first round, a position that she held right through to the end to take her place beside Harry on the podium for the medal giving ceremony.
A further placing for GB riders came when Charlie Dawson, aged 16 from Goole, North Humberside finished 2nd in the Farewell Competition with her mother Kerry’s 11 year-old chestnut gelding TJM Henry de Reve. The Farewell Competition was for those that hadn’t qualified for the Individual Final.
The Young Riders also had their Individual medals decided this today, Sunday 16th August. Great Britain just missed out on adding another medal to their haul when Chloe Winchester and Avoca Valkyrie finished 4th behind Sweden who took Gold and Germany the remaining two medal winning places.
The Children, having wonTeam Silver missed out in the Individuals however a great performance by 14 year-old Bobbie Heath from Nantwich, Cheshire with her father Graham’s 15 year-old chestnut mare Labuleska saw them finish 2nd in the Farewell Competition.
The British Children, Junior and Young Rider Teams compete under the guidance of Youth Team Manager, Clare Whitaker and their Chef d’Equipes Alan Fazakerley and Tony Newbery.
The teams are supported by the UK Sport National Lottery funded World Class Programme. The teams are also kindly supported by official Equestrian Team GBR suppliers; Dodson and Horrell, Equi-Trek, Land Rover, NAF, NuuMed, Point Two Equine, Tagg Equestrian and Toggi.
