Two Rides Down and one for the Win for Lance Whitehouse in the National Grade C Championship Final

The National Grade C Championship Final, which took place today in the Andrews Bowen Indoor Arena kept all spectators wanting more.

The atmosphere in the arena was encouraging as 30 riders lined up to take their chance and attempt the win. A high level of talent and experience was on display in the Championship with the competition becoming electric as the course sorted out who would make it through to the jump off.

There were 11 horses that jumped clear to make it through to the jump off. It was evident early on that the jump off would be competitive with 2 out of the first 3 achieving a double clear.

Lance Whitehouse had all three of his rides make it to the jump off, giving him a competitive edge and increasing his chances of success. It was Christie Pritchard riding Bolton Gate Ben who stormed into the lead when she shaved 2 seconds of the leading time to finish on a double clear and a time of 31.76.

After completing the jump off on 2 of his 3 rides Lance Whitehouse entered the arena for his final chance at taking the title on Lady Rouge II. In a nail biting round Lance raced against the clock with nothing to lose as he chased the time set by Christie. In only 30.69 seconds the winner had been decided and Lane emerged the victor.

Lance was elated with the win and the performances put in by all his horses, particularly Lady Rouge II. “She was very, very quick. I knew she’d beat me on my other horse and I was quite quick on that. She tried her heart out, she really, really tried for me”.

The winning pair has been together for 2 years with very consistent performances both on home soil and abroad.

Lance has a fantastic support team behind him saying “my owners are really loyal to me so it’s nice to give them something back with the win”.
