Tim Stockdale and new ride Fleur de l’Aube 2nd in €50,000 Sunshine Tour Grand Prix

Sunday 13 March 2016

Northamptonshire rider Tim Stockdale, with his new ride Fleur de l’Aube,  made his presence known in Spain yesterday when he finished 2nd in the CSI 3* Sunshine Tour Grand Prix.

Riding Fleur de l’Aube, an 11 year-old bay mare owned by Majorie and Clark Glasgow, he delivered a foot-perfect double clear in a time of 43.66 seconds to clinch second place.   Tim took over the ride on this talented mare shortly after she competed at Horse of the Year Show with  former rider Clark Glasgow who has taken a break from competitive riding to focus on his full time studies.   Clark and Fleur de l'Aube were crowned National Champions last summer when they won the International Stairway Final at the British Showjumping National Championships which saw them secure an International Wild Card at HOYS.  Tim would have been delighted with this result as it was their first CSI 3* Grand Prix competition  since getting together as a combination and she put in a brilliant performance across both rounds.

It wasn’t just Tim that flew the flag for GB in the Grand Prix as 3rd place was taken by fellow British rider Yazmin Pinchen from West Sussex with Van de Vivaldi , the only other rider in the competition to produce a double clear.

The winner of the class was French rider Robert Breul with Arsouille du Seigneur who ‘s jump off clear broke the finish line just a fraction of a second faster than Tim in 43.28 seconds.
