Team NAF’s Juniors take sixth place in the Nations Cup at Zuidwolde

Today at the Jan Broek Stables the Junior Nations Cup competition took place as part of the CHIO Youth Spring Tour in Zuidwolde. Twelve teams tackled the 1.40m twelve fence course, with Great Britain, riding under the banner of Team NAF, being drawn eighth to go. The team of four finished on a total of 16 faults combined to secure sixth place.

Great Britain’s pathfinder was Iwan Carpenter, aged 18 years old from Clwyd in Wales, with the 11-year-old bay stallion, Merllyns Chocca Nova, owned by Morgan Carpenter. A foot in the water and a roll of the last fence resulted in 8 faults in the first round. The second round saw them lower the back bar of the penultimate fence.

Lauren Caroline, aged 16 years from Horsham in West Sussex, was next up with the 11-year-old bay gelding Gait L, owned by Lee Caroline. The penultimate fence causing the combination a problem in both rounds, lowering the back bar in round one and the front bar in round two.

Amelie Gachoud, aged 17 from West Horsley in Surrey posted immaculate clear rounds in both rounds with the 11-year-old bay gelding Hello Franklin, owned by Mandy Hall, being one of just four in the competition.

Last to go for Great Britain was Jennifer Billington, aged 17 years from Wrexham in Wales, with the 11-year-old bay gelding, Flipper Darco UK Z, owned by Paul Billington. A roll of the pole in the middle element of the combination in the first round and a lowering of the back bar of the penultimate fence in the second round left the partnership on a total of 4 faults in both rounds.
