Rosie Till races to Retraining of Racehorses Club Final victory

Rosie Till and Pete the Pastor have been crowned the Retraining of Racehorses National Club Champion 2017 at the British Showjumping National Championships, held at the NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire.

Rosie, who travelled to the show from Devon, has only been competing Pete since November and this was their first visit to the Championship. Rosie commented: “He ran three races and then an injury stopped him so he was turned away for 18 months. I got a call asking if I wanted a horse to ride and we started competing in November last year.”

After both having four faults in the first round, Rosie joined fellow competitor Paige Smart and Jive Master II in the jump off. Paige sadly had eight faults and a time of 45 seconds putting her in second place, leaving Rosie and Pete in first place with four faults and a time of 43.42 seconds in the jump off.

Retraining of Racehorses (RoR):
Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) is British horseracing’s official Charity for the welfare of horses who have retired from racing. RoR raises funds from within racing to provide and maintain facilities for the care, retraining and re-homing of former racehorses and to promote awareness of the suitability of the retrained racehorse for other equine careers. Working closely with the sport horse organisations and media, RoR promotes the adaptability of racehorses to other equestrian activities, and has a well established programme of competition sponsorship.  In addition, RoR holds educational events across the country to help owners look after and train their former racehorses.
