Rebecca Ellis Claims Victory in the Horseware Bronze League Qualifier at Bicton Arena

Rebecca Ellis from Hook, Hampshire took on the sixty-five strong field to claim victory on board her own Custer II at Bicton Arena’s Horseware Bronze League Qualifier on Saturday.

A massive thirty-two combinations produced a first round clear to go through to the fiercely contested jump off, all with their sights set on getting a qualifying place for the semi-finals.

Rebecca rode the 12 year-old skewbald gelding, Custer II straight in to first place. Drawn close to the end of the jump off, Rebecca held her nerve to steer Custer II swiftly and precisely around the course, breaking the 40 seconds barrier to cross the finish line in 38.20 seconds.

Second place went to James Rosewell from Shaftesbury, Dorset on board Emily Dewey’s 10 year-old bay mare, Gabana Van Berkenbroeck. This pair put in a strong performance to secure their double clear just a fraction of a second behind Rebecca in 38.73 seconds.

The third and final qualification spot went to Kerry Grimster from Maidenhead, Berkshire riding the 10 year-old grey gelding Bombastic II owned by Ruth Hahn. Using her penultimate draw to full advantage, this pair posted a solid double clear in 39.38 seconds.
